by Jim BrubakerMinneapolis-St. PaulMinneapolis' Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced 33 new franchise and management agreements for properties in the third quarter of 2008. Spanning 13 countries, the new hotels and resorts include 13 Radisson and Radisson SAS properties, 12 Country Inns & Suites By Carlson properties, seven Park Inn locations and one Regent luxury hotel. Locations in Norway, Russia, Germany, Brazil and the U.S. will receive a total of 12 new hotels as part of the new agreements, bringing Carlson's worldwide portfolio to 995 hotels in 74 countries. Radisson Hotels & Resorts signed eight of the properties, including Radisson Alphaville, located in a suburb of S-o Paulo. Carlson's partner in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Rezidor Hotel Group, signed a total of five new Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts in Russia, Germany, France, Morocco and South Africa. Carlson's Country Inns & Suites signed 12 of the new properties with four in India and eight in the United States, including locations in Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin. Park Inn signed seven new properties in Russia, Belgium, India and the United Kingdom as well as opening new hotels in Norway, Russia, Germany and the Czech Republic. Regency Hotels & Resorts broke ground on the final new property on Oct. 8, the Regent Palmas del Mar Puerto Rico, scheduled to open in December 2011. More Articles
