New hotel planned for Mankato, Minn.

by Jim Brubaker
Minnesota

A new 94 room Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Mankato, Minn., has been approved by the Mankato Planning Commission. The site, to be known as Hospitality Campus, also features a 6,000-square-foot parcel to be used for a restaurant.

Mercury Investments, based in Utah, are the investors for the hotel, which will be located near River Hills Mall on six acres, pending approval from the Mankato City Council at its December 8th meeting.

Construction for the hotel is slated to begin in the spring and finish by the end of 2009. A second hotel, an 82 room TownePlace Suites, will begin construction once the first hotel is completed.
