TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2008
by Jim BrubakerMinnesotaBarrel O'Fun, based in Minnesota, has purchased 12.5 acres of land in Phoenix, Ariz. and will invest $21.5 million in construction a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution center. The center will employ as many as 200 people once it reaches full operation and will employ 50 initially. The plant is expected to be operational in eight to 10 months. Barrel O'Fun produces potato chips, popcorn, cheese curls and tortilla chips. Its current plant has reached capacity, necessitating the expansion. NAI Horizon Commercial Real Estate Services Inc.'s Chad Neppl aided Barrel O'Fun in its search for the site. The plant's builder, Chamberlain Development, LLC, based in Tempe, was represented by Don and Payson MacWilliam, senior vice presidents of industrial properties for Colliers International.
